Diakonisches Werk Bremen e.V.
Diakonisches Werk Bremen is one of the Head Welfare Associations (Wohlfahrtsverband) in the federal state of Bremen. It organizes and represents the interests of its 44 independent members with about 3,400 employees and 900 volunteers. One of our tasks is promoting the work of these institutions and the development of high-quality social and care services by organizing innovative projects and for this purpose we use to participate in suitable European projects and partnerships.
One focus is the promotion of inclusion for persons with various impairments In addition
by the means of Adult Education projects which involve actively persons with disability as learners and trainers as well as information and advocacy activities for the public of our city. Here, volunteers are an important focus group. In addition to this work in regard of our members, we are ourselves involved in the promotion of voluntary service of younger and elder people (organizing German Social Year and "Bundesfreiwilligendienst" in our city and region - 150 participants each year).
